Political justice in a complex global order: rethinking pluralist legitimacy

Abstract Principles of global political justice define how society's governing institutional powers should be constituted, and by whom they exercised. Political seeks to establish legitimacy under moral constraint—achieved through forms governance function, inclusion participation that respect the equal autonomy all individuals within order as a whole. Over last century, dominant model has been liberal internationalist. But erosion territorial national boundaries state-based governance, accelerated processes ‘globalization’, produced deepening crises in international order. This article addresses this challenge assessing what normative framework is best suited new era complex interdependence. Drawing on claims articulated real-world activists, it argues for theoretical critique reconstruction idea pluralist legitimacy—replacing familiar internationalist with more variant legitimacy. analysis contributes cohesive conceptual understanding significance diverse contemporary activist may otherwise appear disparate.
